Engine Swap Question
I dunno, everyone who tries an engine swap with an Audi always gives up after they research the costs of doing so. All of the electronics of the 2.7t are completely different (Can bus data line) than the 2.8. This means you would have to swap everything from the instrument cluster to the climate control. You would easily spend more time and money than the $5k your car is worth.
If your rig was a '98 or later A6, you could do the deed if you bought a wrecked (rear-ended) 2.7 and patiently swapped in everthing that's unique to the 2.7. I've done this kind of thing in the past with pre-emission cars, but it was never really worth the effort. I thought about replacing the tiptronic in my '99 with a six-speed and quicky came to the conclusion it's a lot easier to swap cars.

If you want a cheaper better alternative there is a 2.8 supercharger kit that is GOOOOD about $2k gives 2.7+ performance. Do this on a good/ dynamic balanced REBUILT 2.8 and U will rock. European Car did a road test in 2003 on this mod.
