I have a '99 A4 2.8 with a manual trans. The timing belt tensioner went and you can guess what happend next. I found a guy selling a motor out of a '99 Passat 2.8 but it has an automatic trans. Code (AHA). I know my engine code is not the same, so I figure there has to be a diffrence. But what? If anyone knows I'd really be gratefull to know. Thanks!

 

the engine is nothing to do with the tranny so it will work for a manual ( both the same engine )

 

you will have to change the fly wheel of course and change the rear crank seal while your in there
