EPC, no codes, no start

2006 A6 C 6 EPC light , no codes, will not start. Everything else fine
2006 A6 C6
I had the EPC light come on and the car wouldn't complete the crank unless I held the key to the right all the way. Well, now I went to start it today after a 30 minute drive and nothing.
I used ODBC II reader and it's throwing no codes. I can turn the wheel, all power is there, not a Battery issue.
Are there any thoughts or do I need to get a VAG reader for this now to look further into it?
Shouldn't I at least have a code that the ODBC reader can pick up?
In June I replaced the HPFP and did the carbon buildup cleaning. No issues since then until now
Thanks for any help,
Don

Okay, so when I did the other work I had the Engine Bay ECU box Lid off and when I took it off again, I saw that the Cover gasket in the back was not in place like it should have been.
So I wonder if watrer got in there but it's so hard to see and then to even get it out. I can see that the hood release cable may go through the box framing, which is very weird design.
Before I go through all this to get the box and ECU out, could this be the issue?
