Hello,

I was hoping someone could pass on some knowlage... I bought a 2001 A6 2.7T last month and am getting an engine error code of P0431. The computer read out is saying that the "Catalyst System Efficency is below limit bank 2"

I am assuming this means the Passanger side Catalytic converter is in need of replacement. I was hoping someone could verify this before I go out and spend 500 bucks on it.

Try $1500 not $500. Anyways, before plopping down the money take it to the dealer or a Audi specialized shop and ask them to check the ECU version. There was an update which raised the catalytic converter threshold. In most cases, this will get rid of the P0431 and P0421 codes, and is about $350.
