is there a specific fault code that would be present if the check engine is on? what if the CEL came on then went off? for the CEL to be on i understand that some sort of fault code would most likely be present, but i am asking for the code that specifically says the CEL was/is on? thanks

 

It could be 1 of 500 different things. Go to Autozone, have them read the code and then post the results.

 

if the CEL goes off then it was an intermittent problem and a soft code will be stored and if it happens 3 times the CEL will stay on but until then I woudnt worry over it ( you could check the code for peace of mind at autozone ) then they could clear it
