Feedback on C5 A6 4.2
I own an '02 with 104K. Hasn't had any significant problems with the drivetrain. Suspension needs a little work but overall a solid car. Maintenance is pricey but that is to be expected on a car like this. I do most of the work myself and it keeps costs down. Biggest downer is that it's a thirsty beast...but well worth it.
I have an '03 3.0L with 151,000, which still has some *****. No lag on this car and it can move when you need it too. Best driving car I've every driven. The biggest problem I had was the cats went and had to have them replaced at 130,000.
I remember test driving the 4.2 and that car could move, so I agree with the other posts that the car you test drove either had a major problem, or was relabeled.
