Default Front Cats for 2001 4.2

My Front cats has been bad for the past year, I've been driving with the Check Engine light on it since, but recently, I've gotten a very slight buring metal smell. My Engine is fine, all fluids are at the right level, no leak of any sort. so wondering does the front cats start to burn and smell if it goes REALLY bad? and how much would it cost to replace it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The front cats can be gutted. You can then either run with the CEL or buy a pair of the fool-the-O2-sensor adapters which should get rid of the CEL.

When the cats are totally gone, your car will only dirve for a few minutes, if that.

You want to get the job done before any particles leave the pre-cats and ruin your main cats.

Good luck,

Bob
