Default GIAC Chip?

The GIAC chip from AWE website tuning for the triptronic transmission. This chip just changes the time the car take to shift, and does nothing to the turbos boost I believe. If this is the case than does this chip take place of say a chip that will change the boost on the turbos. I guess what I am asking is can you only have one or the other.

You are correct, the tip chip only makes the transmission shift faster. I have heard that it makes a big difference if you have a slushbox. And if you are going to get your car chipped you can def have a tuning chip and a tip chip at the same time. In fact I recommend it because then the tranny can keep up with the extra horsepower!

Nope, you will notice faster and crisper shifts in regular auto too. But you will def notice it more in tip mode.

I have an MT6 so I did not deeply investigate the "Tip chip". But AWE sells a chip for the engine that claims to deliver 318 hp and another for the Tiptronic that speeds up the shifts. If you think you are going to buy, then buy together as they offer a discount when purchased at the same time. The engine chip makes a significant difference and I have run mine from 79-102k so far without any problems.
