Default Giac chip with 87k

I've had this a6 for 3 yrs now and I'm thinking about taking it to giac to get it flashed. I'm only concerned about miles on the car, and the fact that the timing belt will need to be changed soon if not now and that's about $2000. I'm probably gonna keep it for another year or two, and if itrade it in say 2yrs with 105k miles even in great cosmetical condition it will be worth about 4-5k if I sell it I may be lucky to get 2k more. So I'm kinda stuck in between keeping the car for some time before I get another audi and cross my fingers hoping that nothing goes wrong, or flash it and do the same thing I'll keep checking the belt for cracks for now, so far it looks good.what would you guys do in my shoes. Any input greatly appreciated.

Do the Timing Belt service first. If you are confident your car is in good running order and is up to date with all service, then come back to this question. You wiill have to decide how much you like your a6, whether or not you want to keep it, and if you want to chip it. Remember- the chip basically requires diverter valve and TBB upgrades.

BTW- you can do better than $2000 for the service. My indie quoted me half of that.

what u mentioned all makes sense. Maintenance should come before modifications. If I could do the timing belt and water pump for $1000 thats great news. If I still have the car a year from now I should do it. Right now I like the car and get a lot of compliments on it. My fiancé even likes driving it better than her 07 a4, but in less than 2 years it will probably be 2 bodystyles old and need more maintanence. Bottom line i need to grow up and be patient. Thanks for your input.

I've had my A6 for 3 years, now with 115k miles. Plan on running it a lot longer.

I didthe GIAC chip (see signature) at 74k and the TB at 94k. The manual calls for TB at 105k, buta safe decision seems to do it around 90k. GIAC plus TBB and DVs and installation was about $1200. TB was $350 for parts and $450 for labor. I use a very good indie shop in SW Michigan.

^ yes, my book says 75k service.

Biturbo03, don't mess arou d with the TB service, you have high miles. Do it now but 2000 is outrageous, yuo'll find better b/w 750 and 1200.
Not sure where yuo are located but I know two guys in my club who did it for 350-400 for fellow enthusiasts... but you'd have to be close or fly them to you
When you've done the service, then get the chip, 710n DVs and Smaco TBB.

I live in Las Vegas. I haven't really looked for any audi techs, I used stutgart motors for maintance once, but I think they are out of business now, I tried calling them and the number was disconnected. BTW formulagigi, whats tip code 01032? I remember a friend of mine with an S4 mentioned that you can reprogramm transmission to make 1st to second shift faster... is that it? If you guys know of anyone in Las Vegas please let me know.My book also calls for 105K, but prior to that it says inspect it with every 10,000 mile service.
ppgoal, you got a smoking deal! If I could find something like that here, I'd do it in a heartbeat!
