Hey i want to up H&R SPRINGS on my car to lower it like and inch or so, can I just get away with getting the springs?
Its the A6 1998 2.8 with 145000 miles.

Hey Alex

I believe you can, but I believe (from what I've read) that your stockshocks might fail earlier as they are now working in a different "range" and the springs are also stiffer which work them harder. If you are going to do the job yourself, you can always do the shocks later.

Then again...the ride quality would probably be much better with new shocks. You said you have 145K on the car? Ever replaced the shocks? Just something to keep in mind

You can but shouldn't IMO and based on my experience., I did H&Rs only to save $ and ended up going back for shocks,

The H&R will lower the car much more than 1", probably 1.5 and 1.75". They have a more aggressive spring rate and

... lower more than the Eibachs for example. The car will look better and handle better due to lower center of gravity but...

they will wear your stock shocks much faster, especially yours if they are still the original ones at 145k miles. Your car will

bounce and bottom out in some places I am afraid. I would do shocks and springs at once to save $, or you'll pay labor twice.

you CAN do it, but it's DUMB

just save up your money especially if you're already doin the labor to remove the shocks to install the springs
