Headlight Questions
Slee22. Will do. I have so many mods I wanna do, not sure where to start. Cosmetic or mechanical. I've been reading posts for some time getting ideas from everyone. Almost time to make my spreadsheet.
I had 6000k in my A6 for a while and put the 4300ks back in. The 6k were a little dimmer (not really) but since they were bluer I could see less. Also they look purple to oncoming traffic. Friends said it looked like an older integra with aftermarket hids. I put the 4300k back in and will never go back to 6k, if one of mine burns out I will probably go with 5k.

Jeff, thanks for the input. I don't know where you got your bulbs from, but my light is bright. What I'm looking for is what I have on my motorcycle. I changed out the stock bulb and put in 8500k real HID (w/ballast). And let me tell you, the last thing they will be able to say is that they did not see me. When I'm riding with my friends and we're on a dark stretch, they all want me to be in front because I swear to you it's like having a small piece of the sun in front of you.
I can see EVERYTHING for at least 15-20 cars ahead of me. And it also lights up to the side also so nothing sneaks up on me. Even at 130mph, I didn't feel like I was over riding my light. I've never gotten flashed by oncomers, but for people in the lane in front of me......they get vaporized!!!! No one cuts in front of me anymore. In fact they move out of the way. So I was thinking that on my car, because of the projector lens, the beam would be more concentrated and be even better.

Of course the 8500ks are bright, all hids are bright, but the bluer in color you go, the less usable light is put out in front of you. My 6000ks were bright, but blue, I could see a lot, but I can see more with my 4300ks. It all comes down to personal opinion though.

I don't doubt the "useable light" that others have talked about when it comes to seeing white and blue light. It does make sense. However, since I can see everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, almost 1/4 mile ahead of me, I think the blue works just fine. For me, it's almost like riding into daylight. Anything reflective lights up like a Christmas tree. Especially police cars (which comes in handy at night when doing triple digit speeds). Then again, I am a qualified expert with a handgun and qualified sharpshooter with a rifle. Maybe I see some things others can't [8D]
