Headlight switch LEDs

Headlight switch LEDs
The two, top, red LEDs on my headlight switch turn on then immediately turn off. I think they're burning out. I can pop off the front panel but cannot get any further to pull out the 2 lights. Anyone know how?
My wife has our camera, so I cannot add a photo. I hope I explained it enough.

Headlight switch LEDs how to get switch out
Same issue as well in 01 A6 Quatro, You can pull whole switch assembly apart pretty easy,
Remove trim from bottom with small screw driver
1. Push in light switch quite firmly while off, turn right 1/8 turn. Youll know when you have it right
2. While in this position pull whole switch assembly towards you. It comes out cartridge style, and now you can undo harness.
3. You can break down switch easily with 4 eye glass screw drivers to gently lift tabs holding switch assembly together.
Heres what I found, when switched on diode that feeds LED heats up and hits it operating threshold and shuts down, blow on it and it cools enough light stabilizes for a few minutes and diode reheats, that is assuming it reheats, form other question on this it is a end of life issue, and the component is smaller than 1/4 grain of rice translated not user servicecable, or trip to junk yard.
