Headlights, Signal, Horn and Fan blowers are all out
Not sure what happened, but I have 2000 A6 Quattro. Yesterday, my head lights, my signal lights, my horn and my airconditioner blower did not work,.. Everything else seems to be working. I've checked the fuse but I believe they are okay. Can someone explain what may be wrong? Is it something to do with ignition switch? Help
My 1999 A6 2.8 just did the same thing this afternoon... Noticed that the wipers stopped working (of course, it was raining) then realized that the headlights, turn signals, windshield washer fluid pump, and horn no longer work. The parking lights seem to work, as do the interior lights, windowsand sunroof. Didn't check the cruise control. Can you elaborate on why you think it might be the alternator? I noticed that the amperage gauge was reading normal (+12V), so I assumed that the alternator was fine. Is there other hardware on it that could fail? What about a relay or a solenoid somewhere?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Most commonly its the ignition switch, try moving the key back and forth and see if the sytems you are describing works or not. If so replace the switch, if not, check to see if you have a solar sunroof, and if you do repalce the solar sunroof relay.
it is definitly the ignition switch, i had to do mine 3 weeks ago, the return spring is mounted in to switch not barrel, the plastic around spring has split, £25 for new one, easy DIY. carefull when unplugging the switch. i yanked mine out too quick and it fell apart, only prob was me dash bleeping like hell and engine was cranking over, (silly me went to take key out of ignition to stop it lol DOH key wernt even in)
