Can you be more specific as to what the sign looks like? What does your temperature gauge say when this is happening? Does it read high, low, normal?

If your thermostat is sticking shut, and you continue to drive, you will risk overheating and seriously damaging your engine.

Thank you so much for ur kind response. The temp gauge slowly goes higher. the engine temp signal blinks on the dash board. I just replaced the thermostat. how can i avoid the thermostat from getting stuck? this usually happens when i'm in slow speed or idle.
many thanks

I can not say for sure that your thermostat is sticking, but that would be my 1st guess. If it is your thermostat, the only option would be to replace it. I know.

Get more input before continuing...

If it overheats when your idling it could be your auxillary cooling fans - check the fuse - temp switch - wires - or even the fan motor itself.

Or it might be the low fluid light.. sometines it takes awhile to burp all the air out of the system -- but this is highly unlikely after 4 months

Thank you very much for your kind suggestion. How do i know its the fan and not the other parts? also, if it is because of a faulty switch, what's the best way to ensure it?
thanks again.

What about the fan clutch? Did you check to see if it was engaging? the way to check the fan clutch is that when the motor is HOT, turn off the car, and try to spin the plastic fan with your hand. If the fan spins, that means your clutch is shot.

sorry about my previous comment. it is actually the coolant temp signal that blinks. Is it the same as a heated engine signal? if it means the same, kindly ignore.
