Heated Mirrors
Hi, I have a 2000 A6 2.8 Quattro with Cold weather package. I have noticed since I have bought my car the left side outter mirror is discolored, I am looking to replace the mirror but I have run into one problem.
While looking on the AudiWordl Model guide I see that A6s come standard with Electric mirrors with defog feature. Now I do not have the owner's manual so I do not know if I have the actual heated/defog mirror or see anytype of control for it. I found a replacement mirror for the mirror on ECS tuning but it is for the heated mirror, my question is will this mirror work with my car? Or do I actually have the defog mirror but do not know how to use it?

RE: Heated Mirrors
I think the cold weather package includes front and rear heated seats, and heated side mirrors. So those mirrors should work. There is no separate switch for the mirrors, they activate when the rear window defogger is switched on.
And the outside mirrors discoloring on Audis is quite common, all 5 Audis I've owned had this issue. One other option is just sticking/gluing an exact size glass mirror on top of the original glass. There are dealers on eBay selling these.

RE: Heated Mirrors
I'm not sure how yours go back to normal, my mirrors are discolored permanently, all the time, day or night. My one Audi might not be driven for a week or more and the bottom of the side mirrors are still discolored.
