Codes are unique to each head unit or it would defeat the purpose. Go to the dealer - they can look it up for a fee.

Or buy a new / refurb radio. ECS has some and you probably spend less getting a "new" radio then asking the dealer to read the code out.
Dealer wants around a 100 bucks to read the code out.. a refurbished radio costs 40 bucks + shipping - you go figure what you would like to do

Also your radio if it was never replaced is now 11 years old, it probably has a few signs of age (CD player skipping, tape not working, fading display, ***** having a sluggish response, or poor output). I recommend getting a new or refurbished radio with a new code but is of course your choice.

Is my radio the only one that doesn't require a code if the battery dies or is unhooked for any period of time?

Default Do one more time

Unhook the battery terminals again ... to see if it reset and let you input the right code.

I saw somewhere that you have to wait for a day or two so to allow you to re-enter code if you're not successful by entered wrong codes.

All you need to do is leave the key turned on in the ignition for an hour or ^^^so without screwing with anything, and it'll buy you three more attempts.

For every 2 failed attempts at entering the SAFE code you have to wait 2 hours of operation time before you can try again. If you turn off the car, remove the key and then turn the radio back on before you open the door the radio will remain on without needing to leave the keys in the ignition.
