High RPMS

High RPMS
I'm new to this whole sports car thing... I'm just wondering if it's normal when accelerating like jus to 40 mph for the needle to get to like 6000+ rpms?
I went 0-40 after a light and it nearly hit the red 7000 rpms
and
Are 2.7ts meant to be driven hard? I heard this somewhere and am wondering if it's true
Thanks

RE: High RPMS
Yes this is normal when the foot is on the floor the needle will hit redline and then now that I'm chipped I can get to 7000+ in tip mode.
Really any car isn't MENT to be driven hard. The harder you drive it the faster things go bad. Suspension, tires, turbos, tbb, dv's, they can all go bad easily if you drive to hard/fast. The 2.7t is very study though and I occasionally drive mine very hard and no major problems yet.

So would accelerating after every light be considered driving hard?

ps is this one of those April fool posts?

RE: High RPMS
either with a stick or an auto, you really shouldnt need to push past 3k rpms with normal acceleration for regular driving.
I rarely go over 2500 rpms for daily driving. (unless im getting on the highway )
trapped is correct, no car is MEANT to be drivin hard. Some may be better suited for it, but just realize that the harder you run the engine, the more you risk component failure.

RE: High RPMS
Like Slurm, I generally accelerate conservatively (< 2000 rpm) and occasionally at 3-4000 rpm when I need to merge or pass. But rarely do I red line - in 3rd gear and up, it does not take long to get from 3000 to 6500 rpm and I don't want to ruin the engine. When the turbos kick in around 4k, you can really feel the acceleration.
