Hookup of Ipod or XM to Symphony Radio?
So, I want to add an XM Radio and an iPod to my Symphony system, and I was wondering if there is anyway to use a line input? If not, how are you guys using external sources like mp3 players and satellite radio?
I know I can do the tape input, and FM Modulation, I just wanted to avoid the wires and such running around. I'd be interested to see XM installs.

BEST option for you to start would be to get one of the $.01 (+14.99 shipping) IceLink iPod adapters off of eBay. Originally a $250 product (and in it's day the best option out there -- may still be for many) now being cleared out after the US distributor shifted suppliers. Still sold in EU for around $150. A search of eBay on "Audi IceLink" will reveal what you want.
Follow the link in my signature to my registry page and click on the IceLink/iPod integration for a tech article on how to install this product. Follow ALL of the links and you'll also come to info on software updates and a comparison discussion of the IceLink vs. the DICE (it's replacment product). A no brainer to go the IceLink route given the price.
Do a search on "IceLink XM iPod" in the audio forum on www.audiworld.com. You should be able to find some writeups on how people have added XM to this setup.
Good luck.

I'm using the Peripherial auxalery adapter piece. I plugs in-between the factory harness and radio and adds the input as a CD changer. I've heard it wont work if you have the 6 dics changer in the trunk though. I have the symphony ii system with the in-dash changer. the adapter is under $100 with the cables.
