Horn no working on alarm arming or activation
Huh. Ok. So I don't have any software currently. But if I understand it correctly, if I have the Ross-Tech version, I can download the software for free somewhere? And if I don't I can only use older versions, which means I can download... ? Is there a particular older version I can download from somewhere if mine isn't genuine.
My guess is that there is a thread covering all this, but if you don't mind regurgitating... but if you do, just say so and I'll go searching.

If you have an oem cable download the corrisponding version here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/
If you have an ebay cable, download this version (scroll down to bottom of page): http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html
If you have an OEM cable, download the software and you're good to go. If you have an ebay cable, you will need cable drivers. Let me know if you need the drivers and I can get them to you.
FWIW, they also make black ebay cables.

Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your immediately help on what is a small issue, just a nuisance really.
So from that article you sent me earlier it looks like by determining if the "window-up" via remote is set will tell me if this is a setting issue or a failure. I'm going to go out and see if I can get the windows to go up via the remote. Can you tell me exactly what I do to do that? If they don't go up, it's on the default settings (likely) and the horn should be engaging which means a failure.
Thanks again, JR

Okay, a greater issue is at hand it would seem. The windows do not go up and down via remote, which means it is on default settings which should have a horn sound on alarm arming. That said, when I armed the 'alarm" the red lights actually blink fairly quickly and I TRIED and FAILED to get the alarm to go off. Not sure how sensitive they are but I jacked up on and down on the wheel well and pounded on the drivers door and rear fender with a good amount of force... no alarm.
Soooooooooo, with all that said... what next?!

No matter what I do to my car, I can't set the alarm off by simply jumping on it. The only time it activated from motion was when my co-worker backed her van into the side of my car. Then all it did was honk once.
To test your alarm, put the drivers window down, lock the car with the remote, wait 1-2 mins, reach in the car ( your hand should set off the motion sensors), if not, pull the inside door handle to open the door twice. That will set it off for sure.

Gotcha. I guess I took that for granted as most car alarms seem OVERLY sensitive these days.
Okay, so I'll test the alarm when I go for lunch. But I can tell you that the light is blinking quickly, it looks like you might have edited that part out. If the motion sensors have been "disabled"... does that mean they stopped working or they have literally been disable and can therefore be enabled?

I edited it out because I realized I was wrong.
When the alarm arms normally it flashes fast for ~ 7-10 blinks, then flashes @ medium speed for maybe 1 minute, then slowly, 1 blink ~ 20-30 secs.
When the alarm arms with the motion sensors disabled, it flashes fast for ~ 7-10 blinks, then flashes slowly, 1 blink ~ 20-30 secs.
You can manually on a need be basis turn off the motion sensors with the B pillar button, you can not completely turn off the motion sensor on a permanent basis, but can turn the sensitivity all the way down.
