How do I disable the air bag on a 1997 Avant?
HO HO HO Here's an update
It is fixed --- Yea!! ---- and it only took me an hour and a half. It would have taken less time if I had not been so timid with the Airbag and I didn't have to stop to pee two times because of the beer.
The bigest problem was removing the two screws that held the airbag in place. Damn --they were tight and I was concerned about stripping something. One of the posts said that the tight screws were common but it still concerned me. My Audi had allen screws not tork like the post said. I used the hole in the handle of a cresent wrench to gain leverage on the allen wrench and pulled real hard. It finally broke free -- Whew -- At first I thought I screwed up the screws but they were OK.
I didn't find a clock spring so I didn't have to use the tape.
Santa will not have to use Rudolph tonight -- the lights on the Audi work so he can use it to guide his sleigh.

Update -- This morning the damn headlights would not work again, just like before.
I got another switch (free replacement) and just finished putting it in --This time it took an hour instead of 1 1/2 hours. Everything works again.. If I get to do it again - I bet I can do it in 45 minutes! LOL
