I have a check engine light on in 1999 a6 2.8 automatic wagon. I cant turn it off with the diagnostic tool due to the fact that plug in on the car is shot. Is there another way to shut this light off. We have tried disconnecting the battery cables so thats out of the question. Need help a.s.a.p.[:@]

 

unless you know what the problem is and just fix that problem, you will need to repair the obdII plug.

We fixed the problem with the sensor. But we cant get the light to shut off cause of a bad port on the obd. Is there anyway to shut this light off?

 

Some codes will clear themselves after a certain number of start cycles if the error has been fixed. Other than that i am not sure what you can do. Are you able to fix the obd port? Can you be sure that there is not another problem causing the cel to remain lit?

Turn the key a quarter turn back and pull to the right...

By doing that, you would consequently turn your car off; there for no power… which means NO LIGHT!
