2.7 and 2.8?

3 engines: 2.8 V6, 2.7T V6 twin turbo, and 4.2 V8 (in the US, others available elsewhere)

Thanks, I take it you're a 4.2 fan looking at your car. I just picked up a 2.7t with manual MY2001. I didnt realize the 2.8 was a NA motor

Yes, I love the V8, but I also loved my former car, a 2001 2.7T. I still see it around since it was sold locally (to a guy in his 70s). He still keeps it pretty clean, so I am happy

why did they make the 4.2's with the facelift and not any other ones until 02?

Possibly an exclusivity thing.

I like that little lip spoiler on the back of your A6, was that a 4.2 thing? Do they come up used for sale around here?

Not a 4.2 thing, its the S-line look. The S-line cars had lip spoilers on the trunk, same with the RS6. You can find them on ebay, and theres a few aftermarket companys that make them as well.
