I need help from someone who knows

Hi, got a 1996 audi a4 2.8 quatt. Check engine light comes on and the damn car is making a grinding sound. Might be the cat converter. Need some suggestions from anyone please! Kinda sucks havin the 1996 audi a4 2.8 12v!! Help would be nice

u may need to take it to a shop and have em read teh codes, see what it says
