I'm being scammed!! Please help!
I'd like to see it done with his 5.00 a gal. gas, can't believe that the price of fuel and the "were running out" cries just stopped when they left office. I wonder what would happen to me if I screwed every American out of 3.00 a gallon at the pump. I don't think it would be pretty.

Cant believe your gonna blame the highe oil/gas bullshit on them....
Money returned after 6+ months. I have learned a lot in the process and will not fall for that one again.
Some tips (most of you know all of this):
Use Paypal with your credit card. Everyone can get a Paypal account in minutes even without a bank account so don't accept no for an answer.
Deal with people close to home just in case you have to sue them - you MUST go to them to sue and they know you won't if it is far away.
File a criminal complaint if appropriate (fraud or theft), don't let the police tell you it is a civil matter, insist that a crime was committed.
Keep every email, print stuff out from the web forums, the ad, etc. just in case it gets removed to hide evidence.
Avoid threatening behavior if you want the police to work with you.
Be persistent, don't just give up.
Check criminal records online, see if anyone else has had to sue the same person for something similar. Use social network sites to find and contact other victims, share info with them.
If they wheel and deal a lot, scan Craigslist in their area for new ads that might give more up to date contact info.
I got lucky - a Detective in Fond du Lac took my case seriously and managed to get my money back without having to go to court. The legal system really doesn't work for long distance small claims - your travel expenses are not covered.
Be careful - these scumbags are all over the forums waiting for us to give them money that we actually worked for. They are very hard to spot sometimes.
Oh, and most people will be very supportive, but some will throw some abuse your way. Not sure why that is, there's nowt as odd as folks as my Dad always says.

But I was really looking forwards to the pics of the smack down :
Good outcome; i'm glad you recovered your money.
You forgot one other thing to add: buy whatever your heart desires either long distance (online; via phone, etc) from businesses or places that recognize, respect, and abide by "buyer protection" laws, or locally in person where you can inspect on the spot (or on premises) what you buy.
With that in mind, I would say what I said before: I would buy anything advertised on EBay without much worries, but not on Craiglist.
As far as buying from people advertising on the forum, it is like a double-edge sword, to trust or not to trust people.
I know that's easy to make comments when you're not in that particular situation (something like an old saying "After the war ends, many self-declared heroes start surfacing"), but in all the honesty I would not buy anything that's posted in the forum -in any forum, for that matter.
Once again, it is a great thing you were able to recover your money. I hope hcaudikeed recovered his money as well.

X2. O well, at least you got your moneys back. But not your time unfortunetly. Lil bastad got that from you.
Most 401k lost so much last year, that is makes the problem of fraud on the forum look small.
When you have people such as Madoff scam major charities and then have the judge allow Madoff's wife to keep millions, then something is wrong.
I have had my credit card number stolen two times on the internet, even though I only used it at legitimate sites. The internet is not secure!
Now doing business with an unkown criminal forum member may be similar to dealing with Madoff. I seriously doubt that anyone will get their money back, unless it came from another victim. So, what should be done is to report to the postal service and the local authorities the crime and to seek the maximum punishment.
I am certain, that if a certain criminal person had too many complaints, then something would eventually happen. You may never recover your money, but there may be fewer victims, if you were to report all crimes.
