Audi A6 The mid-sized Audi A6 model offers more room to the driver and passengers over the A4 line.

I'm turbo'ing my 2.8 before September. Anybody want to help?

I think what everyone is trying to say (even the people in your linked post) is that the money spent doing this couldve just bought a stock faster car with easier tuning options (a la 2.7T). Being enthusiasts, they would just rather you not kill an Audi....(unless your going to put chrome wheels on it then Id say just drive the thing off a cliff)

PS.....when you post on forums, you need to expect people telling you what to do, its just up to you to listen or not

Default Just thinking

Indeed, an interesting project. But a question: is there any fundimental advantage to using a 2.8 over dropping in a modified 2.7t? From what I understand, they're largely the same block design, so there's no real advantage to using a 2.8 block for the foundation of your project. If anything, I'd imagine that the lowers of a 2.7t are designed for more abuse. Cost-wise, finding a crashed 2.7t and pulling the engine might be similar to all of the fab work that you'll have to do to make the plumbing to fit the turbo in a 2.8.

Then again, if your intent is for something *truly* unique, then post pictures and very good luck to you on the project!

All i can say is i hope you're good with tuning engines, because no one makes a custom tune for a 2.8L turbo. The problem isn't with the turbos per say, its tuning it so it won't blow up your motor.

There is some differences bewtween the 2.7 and 2.8. The biggest difference is the 2.8L only has a 2 bolt main holding the damn crank shaft in place where the 2.7T has four. The 2.7T's block is also cast, and is designed to handle a whole lot more abuse than the 2.8L

I'll find the thread but, if I can remember somebody twin turbo'd a B5 passat without tuning the ECU.

For the first run I'm going to buy a T3 or something small like a stock saab, get an intercooler and custom fabricate all pipes and manifolds.

I have a lift and a mechanic who's going to help me. It's going to be bottom mount like the STS universal. It's already september, I'm going to meet with the mechanic tomorrow and will post more details.

I just want the extra 30hp, not a big deal, I wont be spending a shitload on the first run as I plan on just buying used parts and fabrication is free by me.

I'll keep you guys updated.

I'm not looking for super results, Infact I'm looking forward to just being able to throw it on the lift and work on it. Being it's a 2.8 there isnt much to do so this will be a fun experiment. 10k invested? Way too much in my opinion, believe it or not this project will be cheap (with stock T3 turbo from a random junker and home fabrication (etc.)) So I'm thinking around 1k at the MOST and we'll see what happens. I'll pay as I go for stuff I need.
