Intake Manifold Removal?? Real time adice needed.
Hey everyone,
Well, I posted this same thing in the general tech forum as well, so mods feel free to delete whichever one is in the wrong forum. I know, I know, F%^&ing Newbs!! Well, here goes:
I took my wife's '01 A6 in to the shop today to geta CEL read and do some other stuff, and got quite a shocking call this afternoon. Apparently some "varmints" have chewed the wiring for the temp sensors, and they told me it would cost $880 to fix!! That's for about $60.00 in parts. Anyway, the reason it's so expensive is for the labor to pull the intake manifold to get to the wiring. I would have no problem doing this on my '97 Land Cruiser, but I've never even touched an Audi as far as service goes. My question is, could I do this myself fairly easily and save $820 in labor, and what else should be done as far as PM during this time on a car w/ 70k miles? Are there any SSTs required? Could I do it w/ a decent set of tools?
I know I should [sm=icon_rtfm.gif], but I don't have one yet for her car, and I figured someone would be able to guide me in the right direction. Sorry to ask such a newb question, but as I said, I've never messed w/ her car at all. I know my way around Toyotas, but not so much Audis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jason
