Default Issue with Radio

Hey guys i would like to say thanks for having such a useful forum. I think i have found so many answers here regarding issues with my car

I have sort of a problem

My Battery was dead and was issued a new interstate top of the line battery from a body shop i go to for any work on my car.

Since my battery was removed i was told that, that may be the reason for why my RADIO is LOCKED or "safe" Mode.

Anyone know this code or that may be able to help me. Audi wants 70 dollard and i dont think i should be responsible for that.
Any ideas?
Its an Audi A6, 2.8L quattro.
Year 1998.

Do you have all of the original owners manuals and instructional booklets in the little leather case? If so, there should be a little card with the OEM Radio Security Code. If not, well....you might be paying.

There should be a separate card that contains the radio code. Not in the manual -- separate card. Could be large with a small perferorated section still attached or just the little tear out card.

That's really bad! I've never heard of a dealer charging to look up a radio code! All you should have to do is go there and prove ownership and the code should be provided to you for free! If I were you, I'd be calling Audi of America on this matter and also looking into calling other dealerships in the area.

That's rediculous!

100% agree with mbryant107 .Dealer should't be charging to retrieve the code, try different location
