Consider a timing belt soon (including the tensioner and water pump) despite the manufacturer's recommended interval. Most shops (including Audi service) now recommend around 75k-80k for timing belt.
Congrats on your new-to-you 4.2!!! Sport or non-sport? Color? Pics? I bought my 2002 4.2 in December 2005, and I LOVE it!!!

BostonDriver hit the nail on the head for mechanical work. Also, if the control arms haven't been replaced consider those. Due to the natural size/weight of our cars and the V-8 on top of that, things become stressed over time.
I've had mine since Dec '06 and it has been a dream. Replaced the front rotors, stainless steel lines, pads all the way around, right wheel bearing, and fresh tires all the way around (the set on there were just about bald when I got it). Other upgrades are in my sig.
Things that need to be done are timing belt, a/c compressor switch (intermittant fault code), control arms, valve cover gaskets, and cam seals.
After 20k+ miles I just hit 80k and couldn't be happier.
And for the record, black is faster!

Yeah, unfortunate if you didn't read ahead and anticipate that t-belt change, that's a sharp stick in the eye for some new owners. I bought a higher mile car that somebody else had just taken that hit on. Also, I'd say get the trans serviced and fluid changed immediately- ignore the dealer's admonitions that it's "lifetime fluid". Just search the forum or web for all the stories about failed 4.2 trannies. I'm at 121K though, and keeping my fingers crossed!
