Just bought an A6 Avant
I just bought an A6 Avant with 79k miles for 8900$ out the door. I love this car, always have. I was wondering a few things about it.
It has the huge cell phone in the armrest. What provider do I go to if I wanted to get this thing hooked up?
Also, the MFD is kinda distorted with lines through it. I think this might be normal for the older Audi's and was wondering if there is a simple fix?

hello jahease, welcome to the forums. sounds like you got a pretty sweet deal there. the cell phone should be able to activated by any service provider that you choose, at least that's the way the one in my older bmw was. i'm pretty sure they're not network specific like the newer handheld cellphones are, so you should be able to get service through whoever you choose. as for the LED display between the gauges, which is what i assume you're talking about, there is no "simple" fix for them. the only way to fix the screen is to replace it, but you can't just replace the screen, you have to replace the entire instrument cluster. the cheapest i can remember this being done for was about $450. i have the same problem in my 2000 4.2. some of the lines in the screen just up and decided to quit working, although it doesn't bother me enough to spend over $400 on it. definitely a very common problem though. it's almost impossible to find any audi more than a couple years old that doesn't have pixels out in the LED.

you are gonna want to check into if the timing belt has been changed. Also I suggest if you haven't already, go to the dealer and have them pull a list of service records for free. A good service adviser will go over the records with you and let you know what has been done and what to look out for.
If there is any indication that the car was serviced by an indy, call them and ask for service records as well.
Enjoy the wagon, I love mine.
