k/n drop in or darintake
need some advise for installing a better intake
heres what i was thinking
1) k/n drop in stock box
2) darintake w/o hole
3) darintake w/ holes this option i have a question about... ppl seem to drill the holes on the bottom of the airbox, if so, does this not draw in some hot air from the engine bay
what do you guys think 1, 2, or 3 and the advantages and disadvantage's of the 3
thanks for any help

well i have kinda a hybrid i have the darintake holes with a k/n drop-in. sounds awsome. oh and if you look directly under the air box you can see the ground if you loook around. and i also drilled holes in my fender well that match-up with the holes in the air box.

Dont go the K&N route. The filters do let more air in but they suck at filtering unless you oil them... which will gum up your maf over time. Go darintake, you don't have to put holes in it though, unless you are running some serious boost.

i am leaning towards 3in tube w/low profile open top cone filter from advanced auto w/no hole(s)

so everybody that buys k/n drop in, s flo or darintake just wasted there money ? im willing to waste 30 bucks seeing the stock air filter is 20 and the k/n is 50 and the darintake setup cost about the same as the k/n drop in. **** 30 bucks i can probably find that in my loose change drawer lol thanks for your opinion though

I would bag the intake idea, there is nothing usable there for you. You would do way better to install new O2 sensors, plugs and clean the MAF and get the injectors cleaned and matched, replace all filters and fluids using synthetic oils. This will get much of the original power back. Most cars that are this old are down on power around 20% or more, sometimes much more. Getting this back is like a major boost, way more than an air filter will give you.
