Which Key Fob Do I Need?

I think this is one of those situations that if you want it done right the first time, you need to visit the dealer. I don't know what an Audi key costs, but replacement keys for my Crossfires (which are Mercedes-Benz) with laser cut keys and similar electronics, are about $140/key from Chrysler.

i called folks that jim recomended for a new key fob, but they said i need to have my fcc id number in order to ensure i got the correct fob. I found a number printed on my security sticker (4d0 010 138 e) but my google and ebay results turn up nothing but more dead ends.
So i'm left wondering does anyone have the fcc id for a '98 a6 quattro? Are there several different id's? Will this require me to visit the dealer and pay for my fcc id?
Any help would be huge.

hey guys, new to the forum. Just bought a 2000 A6 4.2 and it only came with a plain key (no keyless entry so it is similar to what the OP's problem was). I am not sure if these have immobilizer chips, the only key I have is this one:
NW Keys Ltd - Keyline V66BP (HU66P) plastic head key
and it says for cars without immobilizers, but I have not tried starting the car yet (it is a project car that currently needs to be put back together before I can test it). So if anyone here has the same/similar car maybe they can chime in on what key fob I would need. Thanks in advance.
