Key Programming - Magic?
I have a 2000 A6 Avant. A few weeks back my Key Fob stopped working so I replaced the batteries. I then searched this forum to find programming instructions and to my dismay leaned I needed a second key. I only have one key.
Rather than buy a second key I just decided to suffer through using my key to lock/unlock the doors.
Approximately 2 weeks after replacing the batteries...my key fob just started working!
I know this seems strange but is there a chance that after X number of uses the programming of the key is automatic?

The same thing happened to me in my a4. Similar alarm setup. I have absolutly no explaination for it. Acording to audis operation of the system its not possible. Counting your testimonial thats 3 times ive heard of this happening.
Audi's alarms are stupid when it comes to programming. My A4..haha..I had to take it in to the dealer and have them reprogram the system to see the FOB after I replaced the batteries. My A6, replaced the batteries and it didnt work for 3 or 4 times with shutting the engine on and off and trying to unlock/lock the doors. With a wag of my magic wand and some pixie dust, it just started to work the next morning. Ya got me...Couldn't find jack in the owners manual about it. STUPID LITTLE ALARM...LOL
