Keyless entry range sucks...
[:'(][
][>:][X(][&o][8D][&:][:@]Okay | Let's give this a shot one more time.
Today at 12:30 Mountain Standard Time | 112 degrees | Phoenix,AZ
I removed the paddings and stuffings from the trunk of my 02 AVANT (drivers side)
and could not find the antenna/coax cable by the driver's side tail light or surrounding area.
ATTN: AVANT OWNERS !
Any luck with this one? Please let me know . . . again, having to stand up 3ft close to your car
just to unlock it sucks and make our cars looks cheap!
THANKS!
your post is a bit out of date but i will answer for others sake anyway, i found the antenna today after searching for hours, mine is a 2001 a6 avant and if you take out the rear light on the right side of the car (four x 10mm nuts) then about 6 inches directly below it there is a wire coming out of the car and turns left towards the middle of the car. i believe this is it,,,BUT i extended it by a metre or so and then routed it up along the tailgate rubber and there is no difference to the range.
will mess about with for a while to see if it will improve but doesn't look good

I know this is an old thread, but here's a video I made on the subject, maybe it will help someone:

And after I wrote this I realized this is an A6 thread, not an A4....might still be beneficial though.

I've got a faster fix. From 100ft away, just hold up your key fob under your chin. Open your mouth slightly and push the button. I don't know why or how this works, but it extends your range by 3x no prob. No idea what it does to your brain, but it can't be any worse than the cell phone you use for hours on end.
On the plus side, no tearing your car apart. On the minus side you look kinda dumb doing it so look around to see if anyone is looking first.
