KLONK when braking?? 2003 A6
I have a 2003 A6 2.7T ... love it! ...boughth it off just off a lease with 39,000 miles on. Have had it for4 months and 10,000 miles!
Unfortunately ... i have nowrun into2 problems ....
1) when I start to brake there is a rather loud "klonk" sound from the front - sounds like it is from the front axles / brakes?
2) when i start the car up, last week a "whining" noise started - sounds very metallic and like a wheel spinning super fast... runs for about 1 minute until the car is warm... and then it stops ... ydayon my way home from work, when slowing down itcame again for a short while (2-3 seconds) and then stopped??? ...
have anyone experienced similar problems? I just had it in the shop where i got an oil change, transmission fluid changed, and rear brake pads ... this started 2 weeks after ....
any help / advise appreciated

RE: KLONK when braking?? 2003 A6
The whining noise sounds like you have a noisy secondary air pump, it usually runs when you start it up cold and it will run sometimes on decelleration.
It shouldn't be a problem un-less the check engine light comes on.
For the brakes there are two large 21mm or 22mm bolts that hold the caliper on, if someone did a brake job and forgot to torque the bolts on of them onemight have backed out. Check it out asap!
