Hey guys, my two rear plate bulbs seemed to have died on my 2005 A6 4.2. I'd like to replace them with a bright-white bulb or LED, but I'm not sure what size bulb/LED I need. Can anyone help me out?

 

They are 6418 bulbs, let use know what type did you buy and post some pics

I put these on my C5. Don't know how exactly yours would fit, I had to do some slight bending to get them to fit in there a little better but it looks so much better than old regular light.

 

I used the same as above. I also had to bent the tabs a bit. Apparently the a4 uses a different light housing. I've been using them for a month or so now without resistors and everything seems fine.

Or for stock just head to a NAPA and they can look up the bulb in their computers. Cost me all of $3 for two.

 

Arnold, any luck with the LED license bulbs? What did you end up installing?

 

my lights went out on my a6 4.2 and i cant get the new replacement lights to turn on? Anyone have any ideas. ..

 

What kind of bulb? maybe the problem is not the bulb?

 

I just went to the local auto store. They had the exact bulb, but it just wont stay on. The left side went on for a bit but then I took it out to see something and now it wont go back on. The right side went on for a second and wont go back on either. Both bulbs seem like they are ok, the filament is fine. Is there a trick or something??
