Default Looking at 05's

I'm going to look at a couple of 05's and need to know what to keep my eye open for as far as potential problems. One is a 4.2 with 40k and the other is a 3.2 with 44k. I will be keeping the car for about 3 years and I only put about 10-12k a year on my daily drivers. Any common problems to worry about? I'm also considering a 545 or 745li, but I have kind of fallen in love with the look of the new body A6. Thanks for your help guys.

Both the 3.2 and 4.2 had MMI software gremlins. Make sure that the MMI software has been upgraded. Both models also suffered from airbag software issues regarding the rear seat sensors. Make sure that the software and the sensor have been upgraded. The 3.2 also suffers from some oil leaks up top. For a more complete list of the potential issues take a look at Ebahn's website for the complete list of technical service bulletins on the car. By the way I think mt 05 4.2, which I have owned for 3 years, is a great car.

If I gave the Audi dealership the vin they should be able to tell me about the software and sensors, correct? I am leaning towards the 4.2 just for the extra power. Thank you for your input. Off to read up on the TSB's I go.
