Default Looking at 99 Audi A6 - Need Advice

Hi All

Was told about this forum from a friend of mine and decided to join up. First impresions look great...lots of info on here

I am looking at buying a 1999 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro with 135000KM on the clock. It has FSH, but not all with Audi.

Is there anything that was really wrong with this car or anything that I should be looking at when I go through to see it on Saturday?

Any comments will be most appreciated

Many Thanks
Rawdon

With 83k miles on it make sure the timing belt has been done or they have already taken 1000-1500.00 dollars off the price for that. Audis never sell for their blue book value, so keep that in mind, no car does really. Also verify the control arms, cats, upper engine oil seals and transmission fluid have been replaced, flushed, recoded or are not leaking. I think that pretty much sums up what normally goes wrong with A6's around/by this time. Also consider replacing the shocks before too long. I have Bilsteins, but Audi owners seem to love Koni's, never tried them myself but probably will next time.

if possible ask about the CV boots too. the fronts usually crack around this mileage.... mine did.[:'(]

i agree with jeffla, when I bought my 99 2.8 quattro, I wish I had checked for oil leaks, especially the upper engine oil seals. I would have asked the seller to drop the price to help fix the seals, I think I spent 2k for that fix! I must say, however, I love my A6 and don't regret this model at all. Good luck!
