Default Looking to buy a6

I have been looking for a a6, found a 2001 Audi a6 4.2. Was wondering what things to look out for or common problems these have, it has 80,000 miles on it. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=&ni...view&ad=916817

will I bought my 2.8 A6, which had 100000 miles on it at the time, so this is a much more reliable car. I replaced my timing belt/water pump (expensive), but u don't need to worry about that now.
Here are the things which went bad with my car:
oil leaks (several & expensive)
replaced brake hoses (due to age)
ECU sensor (cheap & easy to fix)
Replaced tie rods (age)
of course brake pads & rotors at some point
Passenger window gets stuck (fixed myself)
Fuse kept blowing disabling my cars electric windows, sunroof, interior lights, etc., due to shortage (fixed my self, I don't think this is a common problem though, just bad luck)

This car doesn't have as many miles on it, this is a great price on it specially for the milage. The things which have gone wrong for me aren't major, but everything for this car costs a lot of money, so be prepared to spend some extras.
The car is amazing though, and I love it, so if you can take this car to a dealer & check it out, and if no problems found, I'd say it's a great deal.
My only advice is, if you want a faster car, go for the 2.7T, but I have no experience with the 4.2, so can't say anything about it's speed. It's still probably way faster than my 2.8.
good luck

Dont buy it, that way I can go buy it!! Just kidding, but it atually looks pretty nice. The 4.2 is a strong ~trouble free motor, as ^ said, trannys are kinda weak under the 4.2s power but other than that, just control arms with the typical audi front suspnsion BS. And the 4.2 will pull and pull, it yanks 25ft cruisers (our VW Touareg) around with out the oil temp ever going above 200* and never revs above 4k, even on up hill on ramps, its a monster!

i have a 99 a6 2.8 with 181k miles and it still runs like a dream, ive had no problems with it and it was well taken care of. im the 2nd owner and im proud of this car. it makes me feel good and i have no doubts in this car at all. i honestly dont care to have a turbo at all, i hear there just major headaches and cost thousands to replace, and i dont need something with anymore power. my friend has a 03 a4 1.8t and hes had nothing but issues with that car.... so that might tell ya something.

I believe the back of your car says 2.7T if I'm not mistaken

By the way. I wouldn't buy that car unless you can get ALL THE CHROME OFF.

1. Buy the car
2. Get rid of the chrome crap
3. Debadge it (an RS6 badge on a 2.8 is an embarrassment)
4. New wheels

What car are you talking about? I didnt see anything chrome. The closest is the fat fives on that 4.2, but they are polished and I love those.
