Look'n for Advice/Help Buying A6 -08' or 09'
Hello All & thanks for your help. Im looking to get a A6 & I'm looking for opinions on the 08's & 09's. Mostly on the 1 big difference, the 3.1 vs the 3.0T. After looking at several of them, on average, it looks like it's gonna cost about 4k - 5k more to get the 2009. Of course the styling is a bit different & it has LED's, but the big question, is the 300hp worth the money? Is the 3.1 peppy enough? or not at all(lol)? Forgot to mention I'd be gett'n a Quattro for sure. It will be my commute car so MPG matters to a certain extent & both come out equal. But I would like little fun as well.
Has anyone driven both?

I have a 2008 A6 and am very happy with all aspects of the car. Performance, while not neck snapping, is satisfying, and economy is awesome. A recent trip from Carson City to Santa Fe returned better than 32 MPG, with the two trips across Nevada at appropriate speeds. The car is a mountain goat (Quattro, of course) in the snow and wet. Zero maintenance issues, either. Good luck with your search.
I truly appreciate the info Plim, It pretty much discribes what I want. Im going to drive a 09' Mon & hope it doesnt ruin me, lol. Look'n @ such a late model already nukes the price & its more principal than anything, Its kinda hard to justify 40 Grr for a used whip. In almost any case id take the HP but its starting to tip the scales haha. Plus the options that are kinda "must have" only come with the Prestige level trim, ugh! & I truly dont really know about the 2 tone leather, its hmm...Been almost impossible to find a Prest without the Blk/Amer seats.
So, you think the 3.2(really 3.1) has enough guts? Does anyone have Paddle Shifts on their 2008? The E350 I drove had em' & I was completely impressed with how responsive the gearbox was & the Auto truly stayed out of my business when I wanted to really drive the car.
I suppose it will more than likely cost more like 6-8k more to get the 2009 considering the shopping list I have for options, fml it sucks to be picky, lawls!!

I would truly love to hear from anyone who has driven a o9' w/3.oT & the o7'-o8' natty 3.2L as a comparison. Im looking @ an out of state (9-ish hours/650-ish miles away
) car because my option list is...well..."specific" lol !! Its crazy but the closest 3.oT is over 100 miles away & its not the car Im interested in, I would never avoid a 100 or even a 650mile ride for the proper car, but 108miles for a Test Drive seems a little over the top haha!! Thanks so very much !!

I haven't driven an '08 but I bought a certified '09 prestige for $31k 2 weeks ago in San Diego. It has most features but not the lane departure, adaptive cruise control and other features you would expect, but it has all the features I wanted. Most '09 A6's in southern CA are around $37K but they should come down from that price.

Believe it or not the engine size in the 3.2 model is actually a 3.1. Audi did not like the way that 3.1 sounded so they decided to call it a 3.2.
Finally worked in a 2009 test drive w/ 3.0T...wow is about the only word I can poss use to compare the 3L SC vs the ole' school 3.1 natty. It truly makes for a different car to be honest. Although Ive never mashed my foot into a 2.7L Bi-turbo circa 2004-ish, I can only imagine its sim comparison. As I kinda said & every other "push"/post to this point has the "get the HP brah" in it. Its worth the cash for sure. I only wish I could have found a "Prestige" trim level car to flip the paddles & drive it like a dog. Its not a true sportscar of course, but with the 3.0L SC it deff makes it a sports sedan. In comparison to the 535ix & E350 (AMG PKG) its easily the most fun of them all. I would say its as nimble as the BMW, if not better(imo) & the Benz isnt even close. Cabin Tech is a win too. So, after all that, haha, go with the HP brah!!
