I am wondering if Audi's are loud in general. When the car is parked, I can hear the running noise from the back of my car. I previously had BMW 5 and Lexus GS but they were way too quiet.

Engine sounds like a sports car engine with growling noise not something you expect from a sedan but then I am still getting use to AUDI. Any thoughts?

I believe the Lexus is the quietest car (except those Maybach class sedans)....I might be bias cause my dad drive GS....but honestly...can't hear much when driving....as for the Audi...can't really hear it from inside..up to 2K RPM, but from there on..it sounds beautiful

 

There is a TSB for the 06 and 07 3.2 engine regarding excessive engine noise, which blames the issue in the serpentine belt tensioner. Unfortunately, while this has been a known problem for quite some time they do not have a fix for the problem.

 

Thanks Kevin..I guess it's worth checking with service to see if they can do something about it otherwise it's no big deal.

 

I have also heard of some 3.2 owners complaining of a loud cam, though I am not aware of a TSB on that issue.

 

It just dawned on me that the problem is probably the RVU on the fuel filter. I posted the RVU information under your "jet engine" thread.
