Default MMI malfunction

I took my five year old A6 Allroad in for an MOT and to have the brake pads replaced. The car has been serviced by the local Audi main dealer since new and done 66,000kms. Everything was working perfectly. After the car came back from the garage, the MMI had stopped working. We took the car back to the garage and they told us the MMI had malfunctioned. No other explanation was given. I think it is too much of a coincidence that the MMI malfunctioned at the same time the car was in the garage.
Any ideas?

Which brakepads? Front or rear? For the rear ones you need to connect the diagnosis to the car, so it's more then likely a malfunction in that killed your MMI IMO.
