MMI Version - Overview/History
Hi, I keep hearing about MMI versions and ways to trick the dealer to update it (complain about intermittent audio dropout or jittery cursor), but I have not been able to find a version history. Some talk about bug fixes (to be honest, mine seems to work allright), but it is unclear to me whether new versions also add (useful) new functionality.
Reading the version from my screen, I get this: C6-HU-28.3.0 0662
Does someone know if this is an old version that there is any point in upgrading?
Thanks if you can help a newbie to the MMI world!

You have a mid-version. From your version number I am guessing that you have a MY 2006 or 2007. Either that or the original owner got the MMI software upgraded. The bugs were finally resolved as of version 33.6. The differences after33.6 are not even noticeable to most users. As far as updating the MMI software, if you really want to you can just pay the dealer to do it. As far as tricks to get the dealer to do it for free, they involve "jumping cursors on the strereo stations" and "losing your surround settings". However, if my recollection is correct those were resolved by version 28.3.

Thanks
Yes, you're right it's an A6 registered in the fall of 2006, called a 2007 model. So what you're saying is that there are still some bugs in my version, thus it would make sense to upgrade... But no new functionality?

The bugs still being worked out in the software version in your car mostly involved bluetooth connectivity issues, especially with the phonebook.
I have read about several forum members on AW buying the software discs and performing the softawre update themselves. Some have gone well, and some not so well. I guess it depends on computer experience and the ability to follow directions to the letter.
Mt car started with MMI version 7.5 and hence I lived through many of the bugs. I currently have version 33.6.
