Default Module Masters LCD Fix

I just got an e-mail from a guy at Module Masters about the LCD issues so many of us live with.

Begin quote:

The LCD fadeout is a common problem on the A6's. We recently discovered the cause: the LCD ribbon connector is thermally bonded to a connector which tends to loosen up over time. The heat generated by the cluster is enough to separate this bond. We just ordered a $4000 temperature controlled press to rebond these connectors and permanently fix the problem. We should be set up for these repairs this week.

I've followed up asking about what the price will likely be, and will post when I get more info.

Shameless plug:

www.modulemaster.com

They fixed my ABS controller years ago, and the service was great.

My display went out after the temps were 100+ for awhile

I got some rough pricing for the module rebuild from Module Masters today.

Begin quote:

Hi Paul,

The A6 cluster rebuild is $95 and includes repair of the fading LCD display. This rebuild also includes a 5 year warranty. Turn around time is 2-3 days.

Regards,
Bill

End quote.

Sounds like a pretty good price to me. I'll be sending mine as soon as I can.
