Just wanted to know i have a 2001 a6 and wanted to know can i add a multi function steering wheel to my car....Is the wiring all ready there..And has anybody done it before.

 

Its not pre-wired into the steering wheel as far as i can remember, i think it would be a pain in the butt to install, and expensive!

 

ahhh ok.............so its not a case of new steering wheel and column and wiring harness down to main harness then....

 

Thats probably what it would be, new steering wheel and harness install, but i never heard of anyone ever doing that before.

 

I suppose the only thing is would it have to be the complete wiring loom or does it join somewhere under the dash and would it need to be programed via vag com cos can't get mine to work.....

 

Nah, if there is an instruction manual for such an install im sure you can splice into the existing wires and make it work. On the cars that have it installed theyonly have like two wires going into the switches so it can't be that hard to do if you wanted too. I wouldn't know which wire to tap into though.
