Multitronic exchange

I have a Audi A6 avant 2.8l FWD model 2001 with multitronic gearbox.
The gearbox is heavilly damaged.
Can i use a normal gearbox insted of bying a new multitronic gearbox ?
The multitronic gearbox that I have is called CVT-O1J.
Please help !!

What do you call a "normal" transmission?
Let me explain myself - we have mostly Quattro cars here - a FWD is considered an exotic one.
The normal transmission is the Tiptronic - made by ZF.
Multitronics are made by VAG and are proven to be not the best on the market.
To make the story short - due to highly computerization of the cars these days, even if you are able to fit (somehow) mechanically a "normal" transmission, consider the electronics side of the picture... perhaps build a new car from scratch..
Salvaged yards?
Insurance coverage- was your damage a gazers related (by any chance) ....
