When I was getting my brake pads replaced a few months ago my mechanic mentioned I had alot of play in the bushing on my control arms and should expect to replace them. All of a sudden today my car started squeaking loudly when coming to a stop, leaving from a stop or going over bumps. Its sounds just like the noise you get from poly bushings(if you forget to grease them). Can my control arms be causing this? I cant tell exactly where its coming from.

 

probably, check the rear lower arm large bushing that attaches to the subframe.
lube them up 1 at a time and see if it goes away.

 

That or the strut bearings... But I'd say your mechanic was right.
