Default Navigation Install

Okay I just got a quick question. I just got a RNS-D for my 2000 a6, I have the symphony 1 deck. I have been reading over a couple different install guides. I am confused by all of it, everytime I put in a deck in a car it is half done and I have to take it in with my tail between my legs. When it comes to mechanical I got it but electronics confuse me. So my questions is who can I take this two install it? If anyone is in the Bay Area that can do it I can pay well.

DIY, it's really unplug old unit, plug in new unit. If you can change your oil, & light bulbs, you can install the RNS-D

I also have a 2000 A6 with a single DIN- and planning on upgrading to the RNS-D. I'm just waiting on the double DIN cage to arrive then I will proceed with the install

The most 'difficult' part is toknow how to remove the interior panels/parts. Start with the rear ashtray and work your way forward. I just followed some written instructions found on the web and common sense/logic. The only tools you would need are: a 8mm and 13mm socket set, a hex bit in addition to the basic screwdrivers (to wedge/lift/pry things etc).

I was planning to to take pictures if I get time of the whole thing for other people to make use of.

I guess it depends on your confidence- I'm guessing to get a 'pro installer' to do it would cost you loads- probably more than the individual parts cost you!

Alright thanks, well I can change my oil and those things, so I will give a shot this weekend. Thanks for the links and good luck on the install.

Just an update...

I received my double din cage and when ahead with the upgrade today. It took about 4.5 hours- could have been much quicker but I had to 'trim' bits off from the centre console to get a proper fit! I also installed the Dension ICE link Plus whilst I was in the process- just waiting for Ipod to arrive now (don't ask)!

Everythingseems to beworking great.

I was going to take pictures but unfortunately my camera wasn't working! I'll try and answer questions if anyone wants to ask (!)
