I have a 2005 A6 Quattro, 4.2L. Recently the navigation display on my MMI screen display "Navigation problem, insert navigation dvd" when i select either Navigation, or Info from my console. I use a burned copy of navigation DVDs (DVD+R). I remove & reinstalled the DVD with the same result. I burned a new navigation DVD, and the display shows "Check Navigation System" (paraphrased); upon reinstalling the previous DVD, the Original message reappears (Navigation problem, insert navigation dvd). After some research with others having similar issues, the consensus seems to be to replace the Navigation system, because of the systems sensitivity to burned DVDs. If replacing the Nav system is needed, do I need to replace the entire System, or just the DVD reader? Are their any other options to try before replacing part/all of the Nav system?
