I have a 2004 Audi A6 2.7t Quattro that I am looking at buying. It has about 110k miles on it, and when we went to check the car out we saw smoke coming from the engine, so our first thought was the turbos went out. But we were told the turbos were newer then original only have 25k miles on them, and that it was the turbo seals were the ones leaking. So I wanted to know if you guys think I should still get the car, they're asking for 9500, and am going to try and get down to 8000-8500. The original owner put some mods into the car, all of them still haven't found out, but we know he decided to put fart cans for exhaust.

 

get a carfax, nation wide on the car
and if it smoking, chances are bad gaskets and get them down 7 after the car fax

 

The carfax shows four owners, with no accidents or damage. Was used as a fleet for 40k miles, and the turbos were sawpped out about 25k miles ago, and they said the same as you, that the gasets were bad, but they aren't going to replace them. But they did give it new pads, rotors, tires and rims.

 

I had the same similar history to mine.

as for the gaskets, the VC gaskets can be done in about 3 hours for the pair, and if the cam gaskets are leaking those are upwards of 9 hours.

I'd push for 7 knowing the history, and be ready to pay 7600. If you buy post back with pix!!
