Default need an engine.. 99 A6 Wagon 2.8 Tiptronic

i'm bombedddd...

my gorgeous black sport wagon just died on me. Its a "Triple Black) package with Tiptronic Tranny, 99 A6 with 2.8 motor. Mechanic Says that a #1 & #3 Valves broke. Car has 120k and just had a major service performed 6months ago. What should I do..? Nice car but should i sell it as is or buy a complete engine..? any ideas? suggestion where I should start..?

thanks and let me know

Changing a motor is around $5K. If this is worth it, go for it. If the car is a dog, maybe just move on, but if it is nice and has no other major problems, it might be worth the investment, since to replace it would cost more. If it were me, I would replace the bad valves only (be sure the timing belt is up to snuff) and keep on getting up. If the engine was well treated, it could run 200K, so the valve repair makes sense.

11 years old ? throw it away ....not worth spending 5K on..after you are in for 5 k where does it end ? transmission next, suspension? take your lumps and move on or fix the valves...

Valves broke all by themselves?? Ya Right!

I'd bet the timing belt had never been changed and it broke.

If your lucky you could just replace the broken parts and motor on. Find a good indy that understands Audis and talk alternatives with him. Lots-a people have done the broken timing belt jig without spending $5K.

Just goto Autozone and purchase "Miracle Motor Mender" AKA "MMM" for $5.95.
Pour it in the crankcase and drive for 100.5 miles.
Drain the oil and drive for exactly .75 miles.
Fill the crank case with peanut oil and drive for another .25 miles.
Drain the crankcase again and call Audi.
Tell them that there is something awful wrong with your car and you want a replacement.

I always used "Mechanic in a Bottle" (MIB) do not confuse it with "Men in Black" (MIB).
